Letter to Inverness, IL

Dear Neighbor:

We are all facing challenging times today. Fortunately, the Village of Inverness remains in a solid financial position, having just been awarded a “AAA” rating from Standard and Poors—the highest possible rating. We have strong financial reserves, and a solid Village Board of Trustees who have joined me in working to preserve and protect our Village’s quality of life.

These are also exciting times. Beginning May 1 of this year, we shift from contracted services with the Barrington police department into our own, dedicated Inverness Police Department. This is the result of dramatically-escalating fees from Barrington; the good news is our new Inverness police department provides our Village with autonomy, increased police coverage, and a savings of millions of dollars.

In a low interest rate environment, your Village Board has also chosen to accelerate our roads improvement program through the issuance of a $10 million municipal bond funding, allowing for virtually all the roads in town to be redone in a single year instead of over 15 years. This will result in a lower overall—and annual--cost to the Village.

There’s a lot going on…yet Inverness continues to enjoy one of the lowest tax rates in all of Cook County, while improving our Village services.

I am running for re-election as your Mayor because I enjoy what I do, and believe we have many important projects ahead that require experience, leadership and continuity. I am proud to enjoy the support of the entire Village Board of Trustees, as well as many civic leaders, and I would be honored to earn your vote as well. I feel strongly that, with all that is going on, continuity in direction and leadership is important to our Village.
